WELCOME TO NYUMUNC3!
Dear Prospective Delegates,
Welcome! As Secretary-General, it is my distinct pleasure to invite you to the third annual NYU Model United Nations Conference (NYUMUNC3).
NYUMUNC offers delegates the unique opportunity to participate in a joint, simultaneous and interactive crisis simulation. Unlike any other conference, NYUMUNC committees work in an interactive setting, with the initial crisis of each committee being focused around the same prominent international event. As the past two years have proven, NYUMUNC is a forum for intense, exciting, and politically relevant debate. Our distinctive conference format allows for delegates to hone their negotiation and debate skills while enhancing their understanding of the effects of political, military, and diplomatic actions on a single crisis taking place in the international arena.
Through our crisis design, we seek to provide a realistic experience through which delegates can gain a greater understanding of how both unilateral and cooperative actions can have serious repercussions for other countries (or committees), alongside their own. At this time, we are still in the planning phase of designing the central crisis, and will release more information as the conference approaches. In the past, we have focused on East Asia and North Africa, and this year will provide yet another relevant crisis, but in a different region of the world.
NYUMUNC3 will be held from Friday, April 20 through Sunday, April 22, with opening ceremonies and registration taking place the evening of Thursday, April 19. The conference will continue to be held on NYU’s scenic lower-Manhattan campus, and we expect to continue providing delegates with an enjoyable weekend experience, both in and out of conference.
