Positions

Chair: Chairs are first and foremost the moderators of debate during the conference. Chairs must develop a strong understanding of parliamentary procedure to make sure debate runs smoothly during committee session. A prior understanding of parliamentary procedure is not required, however, as there will be training sessions during the school year. It is also the responsibility of the Chair to create the background guide (BG) for their committee with the support of the CD and Crisis Analysts. Chairs should have strong research writing skills and the confidence to command a room.

Crisis Director: Crisis Directors (CDs) are responsible for developing dynamic crises for delegates during the conference and overseeing a team of 4-8 Crisis Analysts in researching and creating content to stimulate debate. CDs should have solid research and writing skills and the ability to lead a diverse team. CDs should additionally be outside of the box thinkers and able to work under pressure.

Crisis Analyst: Crisis Analyst (CA) is the optimal position for any newcomers to Model UN. In this position, students will participate in research and creating content for their committees. Analysts will work with their respective Chairs and CDs to make sure committee runs smoothly both in the front room and the back room.

Logistics Coordinator: The Logistics Coordinator (LC) position is a Secretariat-adjacent position that will primarily assist the Operations team, although the role is flexible in that LCs may occasionally be assigned tasks in other departments. This position is great for those who would like to apply for Secretariat in the following year, as it is an opportunity to learn more about the inner workings of the conference.
